I appreciate your post about proxy editing. I like reading about proxy editing "in the real world." My footage was recorded on a Sony Webbie that generates MP4s in AVCHD. I "transcoded" the video using another tool (ffmpeg) into MPEGs, and edited with those "as a proxy." It makes the editing experience much better!
