I use the best wireless system I can afford (Lectrosonics LM Series) on the A channel and then run a long XLR with a shotgun on a stand or hidden near the bride & groom on the "B: channel. Even with this high end wireless unit I sometimes get drop out hits and with this set up have the second channel as a backup. Always monitor your audio with headphones and use new batteries. In the wedding business there are no second chances to get it right (I even have a backup camera handy).
