Columnist’s Pick: Best Product of 2005—David Chandler-Gick
I walked into Circuit City recently and, lo and behold, what did I find? A brand spankin' new Apple iPod. Yup… One of those "video" iPods. Well, sure enough, DJ with a credit card is a bad combination. Two hours later I was watching a bridal prep on my brand spankin' new Apple iPod. Think of the potential here, strictly from a marketing standpoint. Anywhere you go, you can be ready to show a sample of your work. "Yeah, I'm a wedding videographer. Wanna see?" Whip out the iPod and--bam--instant demo consultation. Just be careful where you do this. You wouldn't want to drop that thing into a punch bowl. If you were feeling particularly enterprising, you might even offer one to potential clients, preloaded with their own wedding movie as a bonus for a higher-end package. I just added that to my package options. I know that in less than 24 hours, I've handed out a dozen business cards just showing my demo on my iPod at lunch. Gee, I wonder what will be playing tomorrow morning at Starbucks? David Chandler-Gick is an EventDV Contributing Editor. His column, Echoes from the Backyard, appears bimonthly in EventDV.
