TDK and Primera will offer single-layer, 25GB BD-R (write-once) Inkjet Printable Blu-ray Discs in third quarter of 2006. The companies will introduce dual-layer BD-R 50GB Inkjet Printable Blu-ray Discs during the same time. Both versions will offer the highest compatibility with Blu-ray drives and recorders/players. TDK BD-R media has true WORM (Write Once Read Many) characteristics, making it ideal for backup use in regulatory and compliance applications such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and SEC 17-a. The media is coated with a special inkjet-optimized surface that not only delivers extremely bright, high-resolution full color images and text, but also prevents warping - a potential problem with standard inkjet surfaces. The printable surface extends from the outside edge of the media all the way to the center hub for a fully produced highly professional appearance.
