EventDV.net: The Event Videographer's Resource

The wedding filmmaking industry lost one of its greatest advocates, best-loved personalities, and true visionaries last night with the sudden, shocking, tragic passing of Studio Vieux Carre's Julian St Pierre. Co-founder of Studio VC with his wife, Terry Taravella, and stepson Joe Taravella, Julian was also a founding member of Team In[Focus] and was instrumental in organizing the Re:Frame Collective and its first event, Re:Frame 08 in New Orleans. A three-time EventDV 25 honoree, Julian was also, for 5 years, the producer of the Wedding Planning Experience, a TV show and magazine for the New Orleans wedding industry. Julian and Terry were key players in bringing about the rebirth of the wedding industry in New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Most recently, Julian, a successful event producer in his own right, had been working with fellow In[Focus] cofounders Chris P. Jones and Don Pham as well as Terry and Joe and a host of talented presenters on a Canon-sponsored tour to promote and advance the progressive education mission of the first In[Focus] Video Event.

Julian St Pierre wasn't just a great friend and leader of the industry; he was also a friend to many, many people within it, myself included. Julian's great sense of humor, his energy, his signature Spielberg look, his unmistakable, inimitable New Orleans raconteur's voice, and his endless enthusiasm for just about any undertaking he could draw you into were absolutely infectious. My heart goes out to Terry, Joe, to Julian's children Erin, Sally, and Drew, and to all who knew and loved Julian St Pierre. I don't think any of us can quite fathom as yet how much he will be missed.

Visitation from 10:00am-1:00pm, with the service starting at 1pm.
The burial will be immediately following at the cemetery.
He will be buried by his parents.
